Ces statistiques qui font froid au dos sont issues du coordonnateur national du programme de lutte contre la rougeole, le Docteur LUTONGO PALUKU ce 09 Octobre 2023 devant la presse à Goma.
Ce professionnel de santé est à la tête d’un délégation qui séjourne en province du Nord Kivu pour s’enquérir de la situation. Le Docteur Paluku indique que le niveau central ne comprend pas pourquoi ce subit accroissement du taux de létalité de cette maladie virale au cours de deux derniers mois. « Cela a motivé notre descente en province pour faire des prélèvements et nous rassurer de ce qui se passe. » a dit le Dr Paluku devant la presse avant de poursuivre par une question que se posent les autorités sanitaires au niveau national; « pourquoi on vaccine mais des cas de rougeole sont toujours enregistrés? ».
Pour celui-ci ces chiffres sont interpellateurs. Il précise également que la meilleure façon de lutter contre la montée en puissance de la rougeole reste la vaccination. Il a aussi mis l’accent sur la nouvelle dose de vaccin contre la rougeole qui s’ajoute sur le calendrier vaccinal de l’enfant et cela au 15e mois après la naissance.
