Octobre, c’est un mois pour sensibiliser au dépistage du cancer du sein. Et cela fait son objectif de la campagne à travers le monde. Depuis 1985, au mois d’octobre, ce sont des milliers de personnes qui se mobilisent pour la lutte contre le cancer du sein.
Ce mois vise essentiellement les femmes, même si les hommes, en cas rares peuvent souffrir du cancer de sein.
Les symptômes sont nombreux, tels que la sensation d’une boule dans la poitrine, un écoulement de sang par le mamelon, un changement de forme ou de texture du mamelon ou des seins.
A cette occasion d’Octobre Rose, la Clinique Notre Vie (CLINOVIE), organise une campagne de consultation gratuite et de dépistage du cancer des seins en faveur de toutes les femmes âgées de 20 ans révolus, y compris celles sous chimiotherapie au stade avancé du cancer du sein, comme l’indique Madame ZITA MUMBERE, Directrice Générale de cette structure sanitaire :
«C’est une occasion cruciale et spéciale où la CLINOVIE décide de recevoir les femmes dont l’âge est de 20 ans et plus pour les consulter en mode gratuit. L’enregistrement commence à partir du 16 octobre au 4 novembre et du 31 octobre au 5 Novembre 2023 la consultation proprement dite et dépistage. Le traitement dépend du stade du cancer et peut inclure une chimiothérapie, une radiothérapie ou une intervention chirurgicale. »
Par ailleurs, « 1 femme sur 8 est concernée par le cancer du sein. Or, si cela est détecté plus tôt, le cancer du sein peut être guéri en 90% », comme l’a expliqué le Dr Rémy MACHOZI, Médecin Directeur, qui estime par la suite que « si 100 patients se rendent toujours à l’étranger pour le soin, on continuera à gaspiller trop d’argent; c’est pourquoi, autant mieux inviter à la clinique une équipe de Médecins oncologues, en provenance du Kenya, pour l’amélioration des soins et une bonne prise en charge. » Il s’agit de Dr Primus Ochieng, Directeur du Programme de Formation en radio-oncologie et Médecin à l’Université de Nairobi. Et le Dr Dulcie Wanda, oncologue clinicienne (SHO) à l’Hôpital National Kenyatta» pour eux: « les patients atteints de cancer cherchant un traitement au Kenya, en provenance de la RDC, sont en augmentation. En tant qu’oncologues prenant en charge ces patients, nous avons en suite observé que la majorité se présentent à des stades avancés de cancer. Afin de relever ce défi, nous souhaitons venir en RDC pour dépister précocement des cas de cette maladie afin de la prise en charge rapide auprès des patients et faire la prévention« .
Par ailleurs, le 19 octobre est reconnue Journée Mondiale du cancer du sein. A l’occurrence, la CLINOVIE, en partenariat avec l’institut français, organise une Conférence-Débat sur le thème: “comprendre et prévenir le cancer du sein”; cela sera ouvert de 16h à 17hoo locales de Goma.
Rappelons que la CLINOVIE a récemment reçu une équipe de dentistes au service des patients dans l’intervalle du 13 au 23 septembre dernier et a enregistré pour ce service 80% de ses résultats attendus.
