Cet engagement est matérialisé par le lancement d’une campagne de sensibilisation pour la Protection des zones humides en province du Sud Kivu par cette organisation.
À l’occasion de la Journée Internationale des zones humides célébrée chaque 02 Février, L’Action pour l’Éducation Environnementale, Genre et Développement Durable au Sud Kivu (AEGDK) à fait savoir à votre média ce mardi 6 Février 2024 qu’elle s’engage dans une campagne internationale pour la préservation des zones humides.
En effet, AEGDK note que cette initiative fait suite à la convention de RAMSAR signée par 157 pays en 1971. Ramsar est cette ville Iranienne où cette convention a été signée en 1971 et, cette dernière est entrée en vigueur 4 ans plus tard, réunissant ainsi plus de 90% des pays membres de l’Organisation des Nations-Unies.
L’AEGDK informe également qu’en anticipation de cet événement mondial, le réseau des organisations de jeunes engagés dans la protection de l’environnement et des ressources naturelles, en collaboration avec la Société Civile environnementale et Agro rurale du Congo, a lancé une campagne de sensibilisation autour du Lac Kivu, mettant en avant le rôle vital des zones humides pour le bien-être humain.
La Coordinatrice de l’AEGDK, Madeleine Bwenge, à ce sujet souligne que cette campagne prend différentes formes telles que des émissions, des atéliers, des conférences et des rencontres avec divers groupes pour discuter des enjeux liés aux zones humides et les conséquences de leur exploitation excessive et de leur destruction.
Rappelons la loi congolaise reconnaît l’importance des zones humides en tant qu’écosystèmes précieux et établit des mesures pour leur conservation et leur utilisation durable. Cela inclut des dispositions pour la préservation de la biodiversité, la gestion des ressources naturelles, et la réglementation des activités humaines susceptibles de nuire aux zones humides.
