Dans la soirée de ce dimanche 5 novembre 2023, à l’endroit connu sous le nom de Kimoka Abbatoire, située dans le groupement Kamuronza, territoire de Masisi, un groupe d’hommes en armes, que l’on assimile aux jeunes résistants patriotes du groupe Nyatura, a ouvert le feu sur des civils, tuant un jeune homme d’environ 25 ans et en blessant grièvement trois autres personnes.
Selon les premières informations recueillies sur place, ces hommes armés ont exigé par la force que la population locale leur fournisse de la nourriture. Face au refus des habitants de céder à leurs intimidations, une dispute a éclaté. Dans un accès de colère, ces individus armés ont ouvert le feu à bout portant sur les quatre victimes, dont l’une a perdu la vie sur le champ, plongeant la communauté locale dans l’effroi.
Outre les victimes civiles, on signale également la blessure d’un commandant appartenant à ce groupe d’hommes armés. Il aurait été blessé par ses propres troupes alors qu’il tentait de les calmer, alors qu’ils venaient de tirer plusieurs coups de feu. Ces tirs ont créé une psychose totale dans la région, la population craignant une nouvelle incursion du M23, un groupe rebelle soutenu par le Rwanda.
Suite à ces actes de violence, les victimes civiles et le commandant blessé ont été rapidement évacués vers les structures sanitaires les plus proches pour recevoir les soins appropriés. L’intervention qui a permis de ramener le calme dans la région a été coordonnée par des sources encore inconnues.
Le président de la société civile, Muisha Busanga Léopold, a exprimé sa profonde préoccupation face à cet acte de violence inexcusable. Il a appelé les autorités compétentes à mener une enquête approfondie pour identifier les responsables de ces actes et à prendre des mesures pour assurer la sécurité des habitants de Kimoka Abbatoire et de ses environs.
Notons que les structures de la société civile et de la jeunesse ne cessent d’alerter les autorités sur la circulation libre des armes à feu sans contrôle depuis la résurgence du M23.
