Une équipe de la Campagne Watoto Radio a rendu visite aux enfants déplacés de guerre ce samedi 10 décembre 2022 au niveau du Camp de Kanyaruchinya dans le territoire de Nyiragongo. Ce territoire est situé au nord de la ville de Goma, chef-lieu de la province du Nord-Kivu dans l’est de la République démocratique du Congo.
Au cours de cette visite, les enfants déplacés racontent avoir quitté Rugari en territoire de Rutshuru à pieds avant de s’arrêter au niveau du territoire de Nyiragongo.
La plupart de ces enfants mangent sans se laver les mains. Sur leurs bouches, il est visible des traces de nourriture. Leurs mains noircies par le mélange de poussière et de leurs repas racontent le danger de maladie de main sale dans un avenir proche.
Ces enfants n’ont pas assez d’habits moins encore de souliers.
Sous la pluie, un petit garçon d’environ 2 ans marchait pieds nus et sans porter de culotte.
Une mère de 7 enfants relate que depuis son arrivée au camp le mois dernier, elle n’a plus de nouvelles de ses deux enfants perdus lors des affrontements qui opposaient les FARDC aux éléments du M23.
Une centaine d’enfants s’est réunie autour de l’équipe de Watoto Radio pour dialoguer autour de la vie au sein du Camp. Ces enfants ne vont plus à l’école. Ils gardent rien que le souvenir de quelques récitations apprises à l’école.
Avant la fin des échanges, les enfants ont chanté l’hymne national en présence de leurs parents venus assister à l’enregistrement de l’émission Watoto Radio.
L’accès à la nourriture et aux infrastructures de base dont les hôpitaux et les latrines demeurent une situation préoccupante.
La Campagne Watoto Radio encourage les initiatives locales qui soutiennent les déplacés durant cette période d’insécurité.
La délégation de la Campagne Watoto Radio était composée de 4 animateurs dont Laurence Wasingya, Directrice de la Campagne; Nicole Barungu, chargée de finances; Anne-Marie Balimwatcha, conseillère et Daniel Makasi, l’initiateur de la Campagne Watoto Radio.
Une émission radiophonique enregistrée au cours de cette visite de la Campagne Watoto Radio au niveau du camp de Kanyaruchinya sera partagée et diffusée dans une dizaine de radios au Nord et Sud-Kivu au cours de cette période de fin d’année 2022.
